Miaso Krobo D.A. School Gets Computer Lab to Boost Digital Learning
Founder and Vice President of the Flute Charity Foundation, Nana Abena Bempomah Asante donates to Miaso Krobo D.A Basic School.
Miaso, Fanteakwa- For years, pupils of Miaso Krobo D.A. Basic School studied without access to a computer laboratory or library, even as digital skills became central to Ghana’s basic education system. Teachers struggled to deliver practical ICT lessons, and pupils relied largely on limited classroom materials. The challenge affected a school that serves children from more than twenty surrounding communities in the Fanteakwa North District.
The gap became more urgent with the introduction of Ghana’s Common Core Curriculum a new standards-based curriculum (2019) for Basic 7-10 (JHS 1-SHS 1), which places strong emphasis on digital literacy, creativity, and critical thinking. Without access to computers and reading resources, pupils at Miaso Krobo D.A. Basic School risked falling behind, an outcome that runs counter to Sustainable Development Goal 4, which calls for inclusive and equitable quality education.
In March 2024, the school formally appealed for support. In a proposal titled “The Wise B Library & Computer Initiative,” school authorities outlined how the lack of ICT and library facilities was limiting effective teaching and learning. Although the school had secured a room and received modest financial support from Members of Parliament Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Hon. Kwabena Amankwah Asiamah to renovate the space, it lacked the resources needed to equip it.
The proposal caught the attention of the Flute Charity Foundation, which partnered with The Helpers Hand Foundation to respond to the school’s request. Through the collaboration, the foundations donated computers and a projector, transforming the renovated space into a functional Computer Lab and Library. The facility was officially commissioned on December 5, 2025, coinciding with Ghana’s Farmers’ Day celebrations. The event attracted traditional leaders, education officials, parents, and community members.
Addressing the gathering, Founder and Vice President of the Flute Charity Foundation, Nana Abena Bempomah Asante underscored the importance of computer literacy in shaping students’ futures. She urged the school and pupils to take good care of the donated equipment to ensure its long-term benefit. She also called on parents and the wider community to support education, citing the proverb, “A tree cannot make a forest,” to highlight collective responsibility.
With the new Computer Lab and Library now operational, pupils at Miaso Krobo D.A. Basic School are gaining access to tools that were once out of reach. The facility is expected to strengthen digital skills, improve reading habits, and enhance teaching and learning experiences.
