Court Grants Ebo Noah GH¢100k Bail Over Failed Flood Prophecy

Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah arrested at the end of December 2025.

Accra, Ghana — The Adentan Circuit Court has granted bail to Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, after charges related to a failed doomsday prophecy, with his next court hearing scheduled for March 18, 2026.

On January 15, 2026, the court set Eshun's bail at GH₵100,000. He is required to provide two sureties: at least one must be backed by documentation for a landed property or a registered vehicle, as specified in court records and confirmed by his lawyer Emmanuel Sarfo. Eshun, a 24-year-old private security guard known as “Ebo Noah,” was remanded earlier in January and ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before his latest court appearance.

Prosecutors said Ebo Noah posted social media videos from August to December 2025 predicting a world-ending flood on December 25, 2025, and claimed to be building an ark to save people. The prophecy did not materialise.

The bail hearing was presided over by Her Honour Judge Angela Attachie, following the submission of the psychiatric report requested by the court. Emmanuel Sarfo, the lawyer representing Ebo Noah, confirmed the bail terms. He said the case will return to court in March for case disclosure, during which the prosecution is expected to present its evidence.

During proceedings, the judge initially required sureties to provide proof of landed property, but accepted a vehicle as collateral after the defence explained that acquiring property takes time.

Ebo Noah was arrested at the end of December 2025 on orders of the Inspector-General of Police in connection with alleged offences, including false communication, deliberately misleading the public, and publishing false news intended to cause fear and panic.

His prediction and preparations for a catastrophic flood drew widespread public and online attention in the weeks leading up to Christmas, sparking debate and scrutiny before the prophecy failed to materialise.
