IGP Promotes 35 Police Officers for Role in Adabraka Gold Robbery Arrests

Accra, Ghana — The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted thirty-five police officers for their role in cracking the Adabraka gold robbery case.

The promotion, announced on 15 January 2026, recognises officers who helped track down and arrest suspects connected to the high-profile daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka in November 2024.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the selected personnel displayed “professionalism, dedication and teamwork” throughout the operation, which involved surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated tactical work across multiple police units.

The IGP said the promotion was a reward for excellence and a signal that the Service values hard work and bravery. He encouraged all officers to remain committed to protecting life and property.

The daylight robbery, which drew widespread public concern at the time, led to an extensive manhunt after heavily armed suspects attacked the shop and fled with gold and other valuables. Police later arrested individuals believed to be linked to the crime following months of investigation.

The Ghana Police Service says efforts are ongoing to ensure all remaining suspects are brought before the law and justice is served.
