Ghana’s Economy Grows by 4.2% in November 2025 as Services Sector Leads – GSS MIEG Report
Accra, Ghana- Ghana’s economy expanded by 4.2 percent in November 2025, according to the latest Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) released by the Ghana Statistical Service.
The provisional index for November 2025 stood at 122.7, up from 117.7 in November 2024, reflecting steady year-on-year growth in economic activity.
The Services sector emerged as the main engine of growth, expanding by 6.7 percent and contributing nearly 57.7 percent of the overall growth recorded during the month. Agriculture followed with a 4.1 percent increase, contributing 32.4 percent, while Industry recorded modest growth of 0.4 percent, contributing just 2.5 percent to overall expansion.
The strong performance in Services was largely driven by expansion in the Information and Communication sub-sectors, underscoring the increasing role of digital and communication-based activities in Ghana’s economic structure.
Agriculture’s growth was mainly attributed to increased crop production and fishing activities during the period. However, the Industry sector’s marginal 0.4 percent growth signals a slowdown compared to the same period last year, largely due to contraction in mining and quarrying, particularly upstream petroleum activities.
The Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) is a volume index that tracks monthly changes in economic activity across agriculture, industry, and services. The indicator aligns with Ghana’s quarterly GDP framework and provides an early signal of economic performance ahead of official GDP releases.
The Ghana Statistical Service noted that the November 2025 figures are provisional and subject to revision as additional data becomes available.
The next release, covering December 2025, is expected on 11 March 2026
