Immigration Officer Murder Case Adjourned as Police Hunt Third Suspect.

Accra, Ghana — The Kaneshie District Court has adjourned the trial of two men accused of murdering Ghana Immigration Service officer Stephen King Amoah, as police intensify their search for a third suspect still on the run. At the hearing on Wednesday, October 22, prosecutors requested additional time to secure a warrant and finalize the arrest of the third suspect. The court granted the request, postponing the case to November 4, 2025.

The two accused persons Bright Aweh and Thomas Zigah, also known as “Nii Dzaase” appeared in court under police escort. Their quiet demeanor contrasted with the visible grief of family members and colleagues of the late officer, who have called for “swift but transparent justice.”

Amoah, aged 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving his Ashongman Estate residence to meet a friend. His charred body was discovered six days later near Abuom Junction, close to Kwabenya, inside a burnt vehicle. The killing shocked the security community and sparked a nationwide manhunt involving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Police investigators say new leads point to an accomplice who has evaded arrest since July. The ongoing pursuit, they added, is being coordinated with the CID Homicide Unit to ensure a comprehensive investigation.

“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to bringing all suspects to justice. No one involved in this case will escape accountability,” a police spokesperson said after the proceedings. Family representatives told DM Media they welcomed the court’s decision to grant investigators more time but urged authorities to “match promises with action.”

“We just want closure. Every officer deserves to work knowing justice is not delayed,” a relative said quietly outside the courtroom.
