Accra, Ghana- The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, arrived in Accra on Sunday evening for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and development ties between Ghana and Germany.

President Steinmeier was received at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the German Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Frederik Landshöft. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation of government and business officials.

President Steinmeier’s official programme commences on Monday, November 3, with a ceremonial Guard of Honor at the Forecourt of the Presidency. He will then hold closed-door discussions with his host, President John Dramani Mahama, followed by bilateral talks between the two delegations in the Credentials Room of the Jubilee House.

According to official sources, the talks will focus on trade and investment partnerships, technological cooperation, education exchange programmes, and joint development initiatives under Ghana–Germany cooperation frameworks.

A State Luncheon will be held later on Monday at the Presidential Banquet Hall in honour of President Steinmeier and his delegation.

On Tuesday, November 4, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi, where he is expected to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.

He will also participate in other scheduled engagements before departing Ghana later that evening.

Germany and Ghana share long-standing diplomatic relations spanning over six decades, with cooperation in renewable energy, vocational training, infrastructure, and governance support.

The visit, analysts say, reaffirms Germany’s growing interest in West Africa’s economic potential and Ghana’s role as a strategic partner in regional stability and democratic governance.
