The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has detained a soldier who was captured in a viral video assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer at a drug store located within Burma Camp in Accra.

In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF confirmed that the suspect was arrested at dawn on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by the Ghana Military Police and is currently assisting with investigations. According to the statement, both victims have received medical attention and are cooperating with authorities as part of the ongoing probe.

The viral footage, which aired on GHOne TV and spread widely across social media on Wednesday, October 29, sparked public outrage as it showed a uniformed soldier physically attacking the two civilians during a confrontation inside the pharmacy.

The Armed Forces strongly condemned the incident, stressing that it stands firmly against any form of abuse or misconduct by its personnel.

The GAF reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline and accountability within its ranks, noting that any personnel found guilty of misconduct will face the full consequences of their actions.

The latest incident adds to growing public concern over the conduct of some security officers toward civilians. The Armed Forces say further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
