President Mahama Swears In 37 New High Court Justices, Urges Integrity and Judicial Excellence

ACCRA, Ghana — President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, October 23, 2025, presided over a solemn swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House, inducting 37 new Justices of the High Court into office.

In his address, President Mahama urged the newly appointed judges to uphold the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in the discharge of their judicial duties. He emphasized that the Judiciary remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s democracy and the rule of law.

“A nation that invests in infrastructure but neglects the rule of law builds its progress on shifting sands,” the President stated, stressing the need for justice to remain accessible and fair to all citizens, regardless of status, wealth, or political affiliation.

The appointment of the 37 new Justices is expected to bolster the capacity of the High Court and enhance the timely and efficient administration of justice across the country.

President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the independence of the Judiciary and providing the necessary resources for judges to execute their constitutional mandate effectively.

Legal analysts have welcomed the appointments as a timely boost to Ghana’s judicial system, which continues to face growing caseloads and infrastructure challenges.
